CHARISM

The Gospel made visible in charity

The gift received by Mother María Güell comes alive in service, closeness, and the daily gift of oneself.

The charism is the gift the Holy Spirit entrusted to Mother María Güell for the good of the Church. It is not an idea or a human project, but a concrete way of living the Gospel, born of the encounter with Christ and sustained by deep devotion to the Heart of Mary.

To speak of this charism is to speak of a life shaped by humility, simplicity, and charity. It expresses a way of seeing, serving, and remaining close to those most in need of comfort, care, and hope.

An evangelical and Marian charism

Heart of Mary

The charism of the Missionary Daughters of the Heart of Mary is rooted in the Gospel lived in the spirit of Mary. In her, we discover an inner attitude of listening, openness, and fidelity.

This way of living faith becomes concrete in daily service, with a simple, trusting heart deeply shaped by Mary.

God wants us to be simple, humble, and full of charity.

Charity as mission

Charity is the heart of the charism: a real, concrete, and close gift of self to those most in need. It is not an abstract attitude, but a way of loving that becomes presence, care, and accompaniment.

Mother María Güell taught this charity to be lived with humility, without seeking recognition, seeing in each person the face of the Lord.

Our neighbour is Our Lord. If we think in this way, we will never be mistaken.

Attitudes that sustain the charism

Humility

Truth before God and a trusting readiness to serve without claiming anything for oneself.

Simplicity

A life free of pretence, close and transparent in relationships and in daily mission.

Charity

A constant and quiet gift of self that becomes real care for a brother or sister in need.

A charism embodied in mission

Missionary Sisters in community

The charism is not kept for oneself: it is lived. Through time, the Missionary Daughters of the Heart of Mary have embodied this gift in different forms of service, responding to the needs of each place and moment in history without losing the essence they received.

Wherever a sister serves, accompanies, or cares, the charism continues to bear fruit.

Charity, simplicity, and humility must be our inheritance.

The charism today

In a world marked by haste, individualism, and indifference, Mother María Güell’s charism remains deeply relevant. Simplicity, closeness, and charity lived faithfully are today a prophetic sign and a call to make our society more human.

The charism continues to be an open invitation to live the Gospel with a heart like Mary’s.

The gift entrusted to Mother María Güell does not belong only to the past, nor only to the Congregation. It is a living gift for the Church and a concrete way of making God’s love present.
