There are times when life doesn’t come with explanations. Seasons when, no matter how much we think about it, the way ahead still isn’t clear: decisions that weigh on us, situations that drag on, worries that keep coming back.
In moments like these, one word can steady the heart: trust.
Mother Maria Güell lived with a deep trust in God. Not because everything was easy, but because she learned to place her life in the Lord’s hands even when she didn’t fully understand what was happening. Her faith wasn’t just a beautiful idea—it was a way of walking.
Trust isn’t “not feeling”—it’s choosing where your heart will rest
Trusting God doesn’t mean never feeling afraid, avoiding pain, or pretending nothing is wrong. It means something far more real: choosing where your heart will rest when life gets complicated.
Christian trust isn’t passive. It’s acting—yes—but without the kind of anxiety that drains us. It’s doing what is ours to do, and at the same time entrusting to God what we cannot control.
When the path is unclear, trust becomes light
Sometimes God doesn’t give us a “map”, but the light we need for the next step. And that is exactly what Mother Maria Güell teaches us: peace comes when we stop demanding all the answers from our mind and begin leaning more on the Lord.
This trust supports us from within. And when we’re steady inside, things begin to settle outside too: simpler decisions, less inner noise, more peace.
A trust that grows in small things
Trust doesn’t appear overnight. It takes practice. It grows in small ways: when I place my worries in God’s hands, when I stop replaying the same thoughts again and again, when I whisper a short prayer in the middle of the day, when I accept that I can’t do everything.
To trust is to return to the Lord, again and again, as I am—carrying what I have, and what weighs on me.
To pray with and reflect on
- What situation do I find hardest to place in God’s hands right now?
- What am I trying to control out of fear, insecurity, or tiredness?
- What “small step” can I take today, without waiting until everything is resolved?
A practical step (7 days)
Each day, for one week:
- Pause for one minute (in the morning or before bed).
- Name one specific worry quietly.
- Repeat slowly: “Lord, I trust in You.”
- Finish with a simple prayer: “Help me to walk in peace.”
If the anxiety returns on another day, don’t be hard on yourself—just begin again.
Trust doesn’t make difficulties disappear, but it changes the way we live through them. May the example of Mother Maria Güell help us rest our hearts in God, even when we cannot see the path clearly.
